World's Most Valuable Patent Released As Freeware

What has been described as "The missing Tesla Patent" has been posted on
the web site www.fluxite.com .

The Fluxite patent has not been filed with any patent office. In general
it describes a method and apparatus that wobbles a high strength
magnetic field using low voltage Tesla Coils. According to the inventor,
a person that has numerous core patent applications both granted and
pending, "the United States Patent Office rejects all patents
applications that claim to produce excess electricity, thus making its
allowance impossible anyway."

Without any doubt, a need exists for such a technology. It is
semi-conductor based and therefore has no moving parts. Such a portable,
low cost, clean and safe electrical supply system could be used to
irrigate crops, purify water supplies, move vehicles, and power all
forms of mechanical devices. The purpose of its freeware release is to
put it in the hands of the Internet's numerous skilled electronic
designers in mass and thereafter spread around the world as a free and
peaceful technology.

This edition of the eBook "Lectures in Physics" is based on the
well-known series by Benjamin Crowell, "Light and Matter". The main
reason for rearranging the original material was to provide the book not
only as a printable copy (i.e. as a PDF file) but also as an indexed and
easy-to-navigate electronic book which is available both online and
offline. In addition, we focused on enhancing the accessibility of the
texts by improving the index, by splitting the chapters into managable
parts, and by adding lots of "see also" hints and cross links.

Finally, we decided to publish this eBook as an MS Windows HTMLHelp file
offering the same navigation structure as the Web-based version. We hope
that this service makes it easier for many beginners to study physics.

E-book project to give free access to third of a million books next month

June 02, 2006 (AP) -- Electronic book devotees may want to set aside
some extra screen time this summer, as two nonprofits are preparing to
provide free access to 300,000 texts online.

Project Gutenberg and World eBook Library plan to make ''a third of a
million'' e-books available free for a month at the first World eBook
Fair. Downloads will be available at the fair's Web site from July 4,
the 35th anniversary of Project Gutenberg's founding, through Aug. 4.

The majority of the books will be contributed by the World eBook
Library. It otherwise charges $8.95 (euro6.98) a year for access to its
database of more than 250,000 e-books, documents and articles.

But the book fair will not be the last chance for e-bookworms to devour
works ranging from ''Alice's Adventures in Wonderland'' to ''Old Indian
Legends,'' not to mention dictionaries and thesauruses, without paying
for them.

Project Gutenberg founder Michael Hart, who first announced the
ambitious plan a month ago, said Friday the partners are on track to
make 1 million books available for the annual fair's one-month run in
2009, with more appearing in subsequent years. About 100,000, he said,
will be permanently available at the handful of Project Gutenberg sites
on the Internet.

''We want to give the most books to the most people,'' the 59-year-old
Hart said by phone from Urbana, where he established the project in 1971
after graduating from the University of Illinois. ''It has been our goal
since the dawn of the Internet to break down the bars of ignorance and
illiteracy.''

The Gutenberg books, typed and scanned into computers by thousands of
volunteers, mostly are those that are no longer protected by copyright.
They include fiction, nonfiction and reference books and will be
available for worldwide readers in about 100 languages.

While the commercial e-book market remains tiny, Hart said electronic
books have ''caught on without getting a lot of publicity'' and are
being widely read on handheld computers, cell phones and even special
programs for use on iPods.

''These people that grew up on GameBoys _ to them a GameBoy screen is
the standard size,'' he said. ''To us old folks, it's too small. But
they don't care.''

Based on fast-increasing demand, he predicted there will be 10 million
e-books available by 2020.

''I've gotten notes from people who said they would have never, ever
read Shakespeare if I hadn't put it on the Internet,'' Hart said.

Eugenics in the Twenty-First Century
Executive Summary

Evolutionary selection has been radically relaxed in the human
species as a result of the development of civilization, science in
general, and medicine in particular. While these advances have hugely
benefited current populations, they have to a significant degree
released the species from the biological process which created it and
maintains its viability. Formerly, natural selection took place largely
as a result of differential mortality, but now that most people survive
well beyond their child bearing years, selection is determined largely
by differential fertility. Aside from genetic illnesses, this new
selection is also characterized by a negative correlation between
fertility and intelligence–the core of eugenic concern for over a century.

Eugenics views itself as the fourth leg of the chair of
civilization, the other three being a) a thrifty expenditure of natural
resources, b) mitigation of environmental pollution, and c) maintenance
of a human population not exceeding the planet’s carrying capacity.
Eugenics, which can be thought of as human ecology, is thus part and
parcel of the environmental movement. Humanity is defined, not as the
totality of the currently living population, but as the number of people
who will potentially ever live. This is a book about the struggle for
human rights and parental responsibility.

John Glad is a retired professor of Russian studies, having taught
at Rutgers University, the University of Chicago, the University of
Iowa, and the University of Maryland. He is also the former Director of
the Kennan Institute for Advanced Russian Studies in the Woodrow Wilson
International Center for Scholars, in Washington, D.C. A Guggenheim
grant recipient, he is the author, editor, or translator of twenty
books, some of which have been honored in the American Book Awards.
Future Human Evolution is part of his long-standing work on behalf of
human rights, in this case of future generations.

Here is a little story (of unknown origin) that helps to illustrate a
difficulty that many people will face at some time in their life.

A man found an eagle's egg and put it in the nest of a barnyard hen. The
eagle hatched with the brood of chicks and grew up with them. All his
life, the eagle did what the barnyard chicks did, thinking he was a
barnyard chicken. He scratched the earth for worms and insects. He
clucked and cackled. And he thrashed his wings and flew a few feet in
the air.

Years passed and the eagle grew very old. One day he saw a magnificent
bird above him in the cloudless sky. It glided in graceful majesty among
powerful wind currents, with scarcely a beat of its strong, golden wings.

The old eagle looked up in awe, "Who's that?" he asked.
"That's the eagle, the king of birds," said one of the hens. "He belongs
to the sky. We belong to the earth - we're chickens."

So the eagle lived and died a chicken, for that is what he thought he was.

My friend, you too were born for the sky. As a unique human being, you
have, deep within yourself, a burning desire to achieve something with
your life. But for many people, the reality is that they get so
caught-up in the daily-grind of trying to make a living, that they never
really discover that desire and so they end up living their entire lives
like the "chicken".

What the "chicken" really needed was to discover that he really was an
eagle; and then he would have been able to begin to learn how to fly
(even eagles need to learn); and eventually he would learn how to soar.
